Assistant Director of Development
We are looking for a hard-working, highly organized, and detail-oriented individual who is also passionate about our mission of gun violence prevention. Ideal candidates should be able to take initiative and work independently.
Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of prospects
- Focus on individual prospects and work with leadership and foundation prospects where gift/grant is assessed at $1k-$15k.
- Build a portfolio of fundraising prospects and strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits.
- Develop a prospect pipeline by “cold calling” individual donors and foundations who may not have been contacted previously
Assist CSGV development team with donor recognition events
- Assist with mailings, RSVP’s, nametags, on-site event registration, parking arrangements, etc.
- Assist with event set-up, break-down, and serving as a host
- Assist with selecting vendors and sites, menu selection, and negotiate contracts
Manage stewardship process and oversee data integrity for donor database
- Enter, track, and deposit gifts
- Manage donor database integrity, updating constituent information
- Manage acknowledgement and stewardship process for individual donors and foundations
Assist with foundation relations
- Monitor proposal deadlines, review and edit proposals.
- Initiate grant requests and inquiries to foundations and corporations
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, methods, and standards.
- Demonstrated successful experience in prospect identification, relationship building, solicitation and stewardship.
- The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers.
- Ability to work collaboratively and as a team player.
- Competency in problem solving.
- Excellent oral/written communications and interpersonal skills; effective time management and organizational skills are essential for success in this position.
- Proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint; advanced skills preferred.
- Working knowledge of a donor database, contact management and tracking system.
- The ability and willingness to travel.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field, such as marketing, communications, public advocacy; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-3 years of previous fundraising experience preferred.
- Knowledge of major gifts, planned gifts, annual giving, direct mail and volunteer management preferred.
