Government Affairs Coordinator

Washington DC

The Government Affairs Coordinator will play a key role in carrying out the NFL's public policy goals. This person will report directly to the Director of Public Policy and Government Affairs, and will work closely with the Senior Vice President and Vice President(s) in the Washington office, as well as with the broader NFL communications department. He/she is expected to perform several key functions within the office and department, such as drafting internal and external government affairs communication materials, planning signature public policy events, managing the office's public official ticket request program, building and sustaining new strategic partnerships, and assisting with the NFL's Political Action Committee. He/she will be expected to help manage high energy and fast-paced interactions with internal stakeholders (league and club employees and consultants) and external stakeholders (government officials and other strategic partners).

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a liaison between NFL club government affairs representatives and the league's Washington office
  • Design and draft internal department communications, including a weekly public policy newsletter to club and league representatives, daily public policy clips and content for Playbook
  • Serve as a key point of contact between the Government Affairs and Public Relations teams, proactively identifying opportunities to highlight the NFL's work to bipartisan policymakers
  • Assist in the administration of the NFL Political Action Committee, including recommendations for Member of Congress fundraisers and coordination with PAC officials on reporting and compliance
  • Create, coordinate and execute NFL events in Washington, including the NFL Kickoff Party and NFL Congressional Reception, among others
  • Monitor the regular season, playoff and Super Bowl ticket request program, including working cross-departmentally with the NFL Compliance and Ticketing Departments to ensure adherence to all ethics laws and policies
  • Identify opportunities for the NFL to develop allies and partners in Washington, including processing sponsorship requests and researching initiatives and events that closely align with the NFL's strategic plan, including public policy goals
  • Draft and edit correspondence to government officials on behalf of NFL executives

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy, Communications, or a related field
  • 2+ years experience in public policy
  • High level of proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Capitol Hill experience
  • Familiarity with MailChimp and SurveyMonkey software
