- Edit a wide range of content, including many of Virginia Magazine’s regular sections; assist with feature editing; edit the regular cycle of e-newsletters and online copy

- Story generation and content planning, including regularly pitching viable story ideas that speak to and engage our unique U.Va. alumni readership

- Related: Develop a highly attuned sense of that audience, and the qualities, sensibilities, experiences, and traditions that bind

- Work the beat, build relationships, and cultivate sources throughout the U.Va. community

- Digital savvy and an understanding of the different requirements of different platforms

- Familiarity with the University of Virginia, preferably as one of our alumni

- An understanding of higher education, and experience in a university setting

- Ability to work both independently, as a self-starter, and collaboratively, as a team player who adds energy and positivity to the workplace

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel), Adobe Creative Cloud, and online content management systems preferred
