The Humane Society of The United States (HSUS), the nation’s most effective animal protection organization is seeking an Information Services Analyst for the Analytics and Research department.  This position will work with the data teams, other departments, and outside vendors to deliver reports, data pulls, and analyzation as requested. Communicates and works closely with the user community to support various data needs. 

This position will be responsible for:

  • Developing scripts according to specifications using SQL for the Analytics and Research team and other departments, for producing of marketing reports and data lists;

  • Reviewing and developing technical translations of data requests, ensuring the most efficient instructions are provided;

  • Analyzing and validating data results and setups for accuracy;

  • Providing resolutions as needed;

  • Executing production jobs per scheduling by processing script changes, submissions, and delivery of output;

  • Processing data uploads and downloads using FTP and BCP tools to transfer data to and from the HSUS;

  • Maintaining communications with staff and external partners about new and ongoing processes and validations;

  • Documenting results and procedures to streamline and reference for future similar requests.



  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Analytics, or another related field, or equivalent work experience preferred;

  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience in SQL programming, data and analysis, or another related field required. Three (3) years of experience preferred;

  • Experience using data transfer tools such as BCP and FTP required;

  • Proficiency in programming as related to information systems required, experience with TSQL, PL/SQL, SQL Server Management Studio, and other Business Intelligence tools preferred;

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook);

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive;

  • Ability to multitask and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments;

  • Ability to exercise sound judgement;

  • Knowledge of Fundraising Systems;

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;

  • Attention to detail and commitment to excellence demonstrated by the delivery of quality and timely outcomes;

  • Ability to work both independently and as an effective team member in a team environment;

  • Strong interest in animal protection issues preferred.

This position is located in Gaithersburg, MD
