Law Fellow 226150
Capitol Hill
Senator Blumenthal (D-CT) is seeking a law fellow for the 2021-22 year to start in July/August 2021. Law fellows serve on the legislative team that manages the Judiciary Committee portfolio for Senator Blumenthal. Law fellows are responsible for advising senior staff and the Senator on legislative decisions, as well as drafting legislation, conducting legal and policy research, and composing memoranda on a variety of subjects. Law fellows, along with other members of the Judiciary Committee legislative team, will manage and oversee law clerks. Law fellows will also collaborate with staff members on issues and matters outside the jurisdiction of the Judiciary Committee, where appropriate, given the interests of the fellow and the needs of the office. Law fellows must be adept legal researchers and policy analysts. They must be able to write quickly and clearly, be flexible in adjusting to changing circumstances and legislative priorities, and be self-starters capable of taking responsibility for complicated, ongoing projects. Applicants must have a JD from an accredited program. Demonstrated interest in public service is preferred. To apply, please submit, as a single PDF and in the following order, a one-page cover letter, a one-page resume, a three- to five-page writing sample, and a current transcript to senate_employment@saa.senate.gov indicating the job referral number in the subject line. This is an unpaid position. The office is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team, is an equal opportunity employer, and does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, age, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability. Applications will be considered on a rolling basis until March 5, 2021.
