The League of Conservation Voters, Inc. (“LCV”), a non-profit organization, builds political power to protect people and the planet. We envision a world in which tackling the climate crisis, confronting environmental injustice, and strengthening our democracy lead to cleaner and healthier communities, good, well-paying jobs, and a more just, equitable, and sustainable planet for all.

LCV is seeking two Communications Interns who will support the Communications Department with its external communications on owned, earned and social media. The Communications Interns will support and learn from the entire communications team, and will assist in drafting and distributing content across all of the communications team’s platforms and audiences. This may include drafting blog posts, press statements and releases, social media copy, graphics, and the weekly tipsheet. It will also include loading content to the LCV websites and assisting with website projects. The Communications Interns will also play a key role supporting the earned media team by distributing LCV’s daily news clips to LCV staff across the country, maintaining press lists, gathering content at press events, and pitching press as needed.

The Communications Interns will actively participate in centering racial justice and equity in communications, ensuring cultural competence in all materials that also reflect the environmental justice priorities of our programs.

The Communications Interns will join a Fall 2026 internship cohort that will participate in development opportunities, including a Capstone project, informational interviews with staff, and organization-wide training and discussions.

Intern Will Gain Experience in:

  • Tracking and distributing daily news articles that mention LCV and our state affiliates to LCV staff across the country.
  • Assisting with writing and distributing for LCV’s weekly tip sheet for press.
  • Drafting press releases, statements, blog posts, social media copy, graphics, and other materials that are culturally competent and reflect environmental justice priorities, incorporating storytelling where appropriate.
  • Maintaining press lists.
  • Assisting with the coordination and content collection at events.
  • Assisting with uploading content, like blogs and press statements, to LCV’s website.
  • Assisting with coordination and testing of website projects.
  • Helping maintain LCV’s photo and video libraries.
  • Actively participating in centering racial justice and equity in communications, ensuring all materials also reflect the racial justice and equity goals of the
  • Communications team as well as the environmental justice priorities of our programs.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Preferred – Communications coursework, work experience, extracurriculars, or experience with social media.
  • Skills: Required – Highly organized; strong attention to detail; excellent written and oral communications skills; strong research skills; exhibits solid judgment; critical thinking skills; able to work independently and as a team; able to handle multiple tasks; self-starter; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite. Preferred – Experience with press, graphic design, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Canva or social media. Experience with WordPress or other website content management systems and Google Analytics.

Duration: Up to 12 Weeks – Expected September 14 – December 4, 2026

Schedule and Compensation: Up to 40 hours per week; $18.40 per hour
