About the Position

The Deputy Director of Policy is a cross-functional leader operating at the nexus of policy, practice, research, and implementation. This role is central to advancing Powerful Learning across schools, districts, and states by shaping and executing an external learning agenda. Unlike execution-focused roles, the Deputy Director works at the highest strategic levels to translate vision into actionable operational roadmaps, scalable systems, and funder-ready concepts.

This position focuses on high-level partnership architecture and building coalitions that support long-term systems change. The Deputy Director will drive day-to-day internal alignment across functional groups through active participation in the leadership team, directly supporting and developing other leaders and managers to execute the broader vision

Core Deputy Responsibilities

  • Strategic Operationalization: Translate high-level vision for all strategic areas into actionable operational roadmaps, concrete workflows, and scalable systems for how functional groups contribute and collaborate to execute strategy while managing internal evaluations to measure programmatic impact and effectiveness.
  • Relationship Management: Highly collaborative and organized, with a proven ability to build strong internal and external partnerships to drive execution.
  • Communication: Demonstrates active listening, clear written and verbal communication, and effective use of workplace tools (e.g., Slack, Asana) to foster strong interpersonal connections.
  • Continuous Learning: Actively pursues professional development, stays current with industry trends, and builds diverse internal and external networks.

Compensation

We consider candidate experience and location when determining where a candidate may fall within that range. Digital Promise Global offers a competitive total rewards package including coverage of 85% of health insurance premiums for employee coverage and 75% of health insurance premiums for dependent and family coverage, 15 vacation days, 12 sick days, 3% 401k employer contribution, 3% employer 401k match, and a flexible work environment.

The full-time salary range for the position is based on geographical regions, with exact salary depending on relevant experience.

California: $175,515-$197,455

DC Metro Area & NYC: $ $159,559-$179,504

National: $143,603-$161,554
