Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee

The Democratic staff of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee is seeking an experienced communications professional to join a fast-paced and proactive press office. This role plays a central part in the day-to-day operations of the Committee’s press team. The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 2–3 years of experience in a Capitol Hill, campaign, federal agency, or comparable press operation, along with a record of building state and national media relationships, and on-the-record experience. Responsibilities include drafting and editing press materials on a wide range of in-depth policy issues, overseeing media relations for the office, conducting interview prep, and preparing long form remarks. Strong writing and editing skills are essential, as is the ability to work across a broad range of complex policy issues.
